For Dr. Joan Kuo, dentistry is a unique profession in that she not only gets to meet people from all walks of life, but also gets to build relationships over time. Knowing that every day is going to be a different experience keeps her excited about going to work; the opportunity to treat our patients, their children, and their grandchildren, and watch them grow up is an amazing experience.
Dr. Kuo’s father, who practiced dentistry for 30 years, instilled in her the value of creating meaningful, lasting relationships with her patients and how having the ability to create beautiful smiles offers a lifetime of reward.
Dr. Kuo earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Michigan, where she met her husband, Dr. Benjamin Yang. As a dental student, she was inducted into esteemed Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society, as well as the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, the nation’s oldest, largest, and most selective all-discipline honor society. Dr. Kuo and Dr. Yang moved to Seattle for the appreciation for the beautiful mountains and lakes in our region. Together, they open an exceptional practice where today, our primary goal is to provide patients with an unmatched level of dental care. Dr. Kuo considers herself truly lucky to have a profession that gives her the ability to change people’s lives.
Much like Dr. Yang, Dr. Kuo takes continuing education very seriously and knows that staying on top of all recent developments and treatments in the dental field will ultimately mean the highest-quality treatment outcome for our patients. To that end, Dr. Kuo is an active member of the American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association, and the Seattle King County Dental Society.
In her spare time, Dr. Kuo enjoys spending time with her kids. She feels fortunate to live in a city surrounded by so much beauty and natural wonders. When time allows, both Dr. Kuo and Dr. Yang love to travel and experience different cultures and cuisines from around the world.
